Boarding Pass Validation
As part of IATA's “Simplifying the Business” initiative, airlines and airports have been able to advance the facilities of Internet Check-in and, more importantly, the ability for air passengers to print their own boarding cards at home or in the office, or have them delivered directly to their mobile phone.
However, the use of this technology does present a number of challenges to the airport community. Issues such as passenger validation and tracking and abuse of airline boarding passes can stand in the way of acceptance by airlines, airports and regulatory authorities.
By implementing passenger services such as boarding pass scanning, airports can:
- Validate every boarding pass against flight records
- Trap duplicate boarding passes at multiple locations
- Validate passenger details and document checks with the airline
- Alert the airline departure control system (DCS) of passenger arrival at security
- Detect “tampering” of the barcode data
VeriScan+ is a cost effective solution that meets these challenges and more. Based around a secure database and local network, VeriScan+ links to airline and airport systems to acquire flight details on line.
VeriScan+ validates every boarding pass against flight records. It also validates passenger details, checking documents with the airline. Duplicate boarding passes are trapped at multiple locations and tampering of the barcode data is also detected. VeriScan+ also alerts the airline departure control system (DCS) of passenger arrival at security and provides configurable rules to meet the regulatory requirements at any location in the world.
VeriScan+ has been deployed in thirteen airports in the UK and Europe to ensure the validity of passengers arriving at the security search areas. In addition, VeriScan+ provides valuable management reporting on passengers giving airport management the first real view of passenger arrival and dwell times for different flights throughout the day.
