Changes to security procedures across the industry have only increased these hassles. Whether the queues are at check-in or security search, the ability to measure and manage them is paramount to airport operations.

By tracking individual passengers throughout the airport process, operational managers can monitor and respond to queues in real time, manage service levels and improve tactical and strategic management of the terminals. This ensures that passengers have time to spend in restaurants, bars and shops, as well as improving the overall passenger experience.

PAXTrax+ provides airports with real time accurate intelligence on passenger journey and queue times. With PAXTrax+, as passengers progress, a series of specialised Bluetooth sensors from BLIP Systems log the time, location and signal strength of each mobile phone to the BLIP server. The BLIP server database matches the time and location of each phone to build up information about the passenger’s journey and queuing times through the terminal. Bluetooth queue times are combined with innovative laser-based passenger counting technology to provide a complete picture of terminal operations, delivering detailed, real time statistics on every journey and queue in the airport.

PAXTrax+ can also be used to track passenger paths throughout the whole airport process. Passengers can be tracked from the car parks, bus and train stations, through check in, security, retail, lounges and right to the gate, creating a wealth of operational information and passenger profiles.

Airports, including London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Stansted, London Luton and Belfast International have deployed Bluetooth and laser-based solutions from Amor Group to record and manage their processes and queues, including security and immigration performance to ensure they are delivering the best possible service to their passengers.
