Amor Group is one of just three suppliers to be selected for the Solutions Development category by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for its Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
The win coincides with the opening of a new office in Coventry University Technology Park, which will manage work for some of the company’s largest public sector clients, many of which are based around the Coventry area – including the LSC.
Geographically, Coventry is also close to London, Manchester and South Wales, where Amor Group also has clients.
Amor Group beat off strong competition from a number of companies.
The QCF is a new framework for recognising and accrediting qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It is at the centre of a major reform of the vocational qualifications system, designed to make the whole system simpler to understand and use, with the intention of making both the system and the qualifications offered more relevant to the needs of employers and more flexible and accessible for learners.
The procurement framework will be used by the LSC and other education and careers organisations.
The LSC has estimated that up to £100million of contracts may be tendered through the QCF framework over the next four years.
Alastair O’Brien, Amor Group’s Public Sector Business Unit Director, said the selection reinforced the company’s strengths in the education sector.
“This presents a significant opportunity for us over the next few years. Amor Group has an outstanding track record in education, with the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency already being one of our top five clients.
“We have also recently secured a new professional services deal with Ofqual as well as continuing to work with the education departments for the Scottish and Welsh Governments.
“This also paves the way for future work and expansion into other areas of IT in education and career development, which led to the decision to open the office in Coventry as this is the location of a number of existing and potential clients within the education sector in England and Wales.”
Amor Group is already a delivery partner to the public sector through other frameworks including Buying Solutions Supplier, the Welsh Assembly, NHS Scotland and Connecting for Health.
The new office in the West Midlands will be manned by a team of sales staff, project managers, developers and consultants, whose remit will be to service established clients and grow this public sector practice.
