Creation of New Jobs Bucks Unemployment Trends

Leading Scottish business technology solutions provider Amor Group is to recruit 20 new IT specialists following a number of significant contract wins.

While the latest unemployment figures, issued last week, show a marked increase in the number of people seeking work in Scotland, Amor Group is bucking the trend by creating new posts.

The group provides business technology solutions, professional services and managed services to customers in the energy, transport and public sectors, with a global client base that ranges from Shell and Scottish Power to Austrian Airlines, BAA and the NHS.

It currently employs 380 staff across six offices.

The permanent vacancies include software developers and project managers across its energy, transport and public sector practices.

Most of the jobs are based at Amor Group’s headquarters at India of Inchinnan, Glasgow, with a number in Coventry, where the company opened a new office earlier this month.

The recruitment drive has been prompted by major expansion plans coupled with a series of lucrative business wins.

John Innes, Chief Executive Officer of Amor Group, said the company had exciting and robust plans for expansion over the next few years.

“We are now the biggest independent business solutions provider in Scotland and we have firm plans to double our turnover to £60million in the next three years.

“Amor Group has a vast amount of expertise, in the energy, transport and public sectors and we have recently secured a considerable amount of new business.

“Our expansion into the West Midlands has also created new posts and opportunities for talented people, which is positive news in the wake of the latest increase in people who are unemployed in Scotland.

“Additional jobs will be created as we continue to expand over the coming months.”

The office in Coventry University Technology Park will manage work for some of Amor Group’s largest public sector clients, many of which are based around the Coventry area.
