In April 2012 British Waterways Scotland, the organisation which manages Scotland’s inland waterways and canal network, will separate from British Waterways in England and Wales and become a stand-alone organisation. It therefore required a new ICT system that was conducive to its new status and size.
The agreement will see Amor Group providing British Waterways Scotlandwith a range of flexible ICT support services including ICT infrastructure, storage, business continuity, disaster recovery and desktop servers.
Alastair O’Brien, Public Services Sector Director, Amor Group, said: “We are thrilled to be appointed as preferred supplier for British Waterways Scotland’s ICT systems. Amor Group will use the Scottish Government Data Centre at Saughton House in Edinburgh to achieve economies of scale and ensure that British Waterways Scotland’s data is safe and secure.
“The new system will provide British Waterways Scotland with a flexible ICT infrastructure and we are looking forward to building an excellent relationship with them over the next three years.”
Debs Hurst, Financial Controller, British Waterways Scotland, said of the contract award: “With Scottish Ministers having decided that we shall remain in public ownership as a stand-alone public body, we needed a partner to help us develop a new ICT system and one which is flexible enough to support business growth going forward.
“We are delighted to partner with Amor Group. They offered both the expertise and value we need to ensure we have a cost effective solution that is both fit for purpose for the size of British Waterways Scotland moving forward and one which we can be confident of delivering by April next year.”
