Milan Malpensa Adopts Bluetooth Passenger Tracking System
SEA, operators of Italy’s Milan Malpensa and Linate airports has gone live with Italy’s first Bluetooth queue measurement system, commissioning Amor Group’s ChromaACDB (Airport Collaboration Database) to help manage queues and improve the airport experience for passengers. Milan Malpensa is Italy’s second largest airport and rivals London Stansted for passenger numbers, handling 19m passengers a year.
ChromaACDB, a key component of Amor’s Chroma Airport Suite, will provide automatic monitoring and measurement of journey and queuing times throughout the airport by tracking passengers’ Bluetooth mobile phone signals utilising the industry leading BlipTrack™ software, enabling Milan Malpensa to effectively and pro-actively manage terminal operations.
Martin Bowman, Sector Director – Transport at Amor Group said:
“Implementing BlipTrack™ as part of Chroma, our Next Generation Airport product suite, will have a number of benefits for passengers and SEA staff at Milan Malpensa. The system provides greater insight into the passenger journey allowing airport management to effectively resource in line with demand, enabling more efficient operations at peak periods. As a result, SEA will be able to establish and monitor service levels in order to drive an increase in performance across the airport.
“We’re delighted that SEA has chosen Amor Group as their partner on this important project. We have considerable experience in this area following in excess of 30 successful installations across the globe, cementing our position as the world’s leading authority on passenger-centric technology.”
Giorgio Medici, Head of Customer Care at SEA said:
“Implementing passenger tracking technology will enable us to deliver a premier passenger experience within our terminals whilst allowing the airport to manage our resources effectively in line with real-time passenger demand. ChromaACDB and BlipTrack™ will give us a clear picture of passenger movements, allowing us to provide the best service we can and proactively manage service levels before any issues arise.”
